ISU and the ISU Foundation are seeking candidates who want to help engage donors and open the doors to opportunity as a Philanthropy Associate (Development Officer) or Philanthropic Advisor (Development Director). These positions are responsible for philanthropic initiatives including the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors, with an emphasis on enhancing connections and philanthropy ranging from leadership annual gifts to major gifts depending upon the applicant skill and the specific position.

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Major Donor Engagement and Fundraising
• Development Relationship Enhancement Strategies
• Collaboration
• Constituent Portfolio Management

Qualifications vary based on each position and range
Minimum Qualifications include:
• One (1) to three (3) years of fundraising, financial advising or human relations related experience
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related discipline or field
• Experience using standard office technologies including computers, phones, word processing software, email and electronic calendaring systems

Preferred Qualifications include:
• Advanced degree in a relevant discipline/field
• Three (3) to Five (5) years successful experience in major gift fundraising
• Higher education focused fundraising
• Ability to work collegially and collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong verbal and written abilities to communicate effectively with existing and prospective donors to engage constituents and develop gift proposals
• Experience building individual, corporate or industry connections
• Ability to ask for financial support and speak comfortably about philanthropy, donor interests, intentions and philanthropic impacts
• Familiarity with fundraising database systems such as Raiser’s Edge or other relational database systems utilized for fundraising purposes
• Comfort working within a metrics informed environment for tracking goals and achievements
• Familiarity with the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education fundraising guidelines and the Donor Bill of Rights
