Job Description

  UC Berkeley's College of Chemistry is hiring for an Associate Director of Alumni Affairs. This position in the College Relations and Development team will oversee and direct outreach, engagement programming, annual giving solicitation and stewardship strategies for the alumni of the College of Chemistry. Provides immediate supervision of the Donor Relations and Event Specialist.

The incumbent will develop new alumni relations program initiatives, explore opportunities to strengthen existing programs, manage and supervise the Donor Relations and Events Specialist and evaluate staff deployment as appropriate. Additionally, they will direct the campaign to raise unrestricted annual donations from alumni and friends of the school. This position requires proven management and organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills, an enthusiasm for working with people, the ability to manage many projects simultaneously involving alumni volunteers, and a sense of humor.

Required Qualifications
Knowledge of fundraising and donor relations concepts, principles, and practices.
Direct experience creating, building, and soliciting for annual fund and direct response marketing campaigns.
Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the skill to produce information that is appropriately presented and effectively received by target constituencies.
Advanced project management skills, including demonstrated ability to plan and implement successful events and programs from beginning to end, including setting and meeting goals and deadlines.
Highly developed organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage and perform multiple simultaneous tasks and assignments efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues and other team members.
Experience independently taking initiative and solving problems with exceptional judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of issues of concern and trends in higher education, preference for advanced knowledge of public institutions of higher education.
Strong social and networking skills with the ability to identify and connect newly-admitted and current students, and recent graduates with alumni constituency groups.
Advanced skills to analyze information to strategically communicate insights to internal and external stakeholders, and provide program recommendations, and budget allocation in order to set expectations for successful programs.
Experience collaborating within a high-functioning team, with advanced knowledge of practices and procedures related to establishing and sustaining effective working relationships across internal and external constituencies.

Bachelor's degree in related area and 3- 5 years working in donor/alumni relations setting, and/or equivalent training/experience.

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $88,600.00 - $105,000.00.

This is a 100%, full-time (40 hours/week), Career position that is eligible for full UC benefits.
